Avoidance often result in securely establishing a “blaming game“, that normally is effectively sustained by enablers. Therefore you must mentally and emotionally “move” yourself to the next stage, consideration, before you can even dare to think about beginning to develop, initiate or even sustain a successful change management strategy.
In the consideration stage you becomes more aware of the influences of changes taking place, …and perhaps, starts to think about dealing with such changes. But you haven’t definitely decided to deal with or do something about it yet.
You might still wonder, whether adaptation to change or the continuing of a change project, to successfully cope or deal with change, is actually worth all the efforts. As a matter of fact, you are still weighing the pros and cons of implement and/or continuing with a change project.
Unfortunately many people tend to either remain in or “relapse” back to this stage, specially when the going gets though or when many obstacles are experienced. Remaining in the consideration stage (or even hiding behind it, often to avoid or postpone a final decision to take action) could take quite a long time, sometimes up-to two years (&sometimes for the rest of your life) and then, after years of “careful” consideration, decide to abandon the change project and cease all efforts to actually initiate or to continue with a change project.
Consideration, is a stage, that is quite often used to avoid the responsibility of taking a final decision to take action and/or to indefinitely postpone action until… certain conditions are met.
